
Heat wave continues to scorch south China
BEIJING - The National Meteorological Center (NMC,全國氣象中心) Wednesday continued its high temperature alert for south China as the hot weather is expected to persist over the next three days.周三國家氣象中心持續(xù)高溫警告,未來三天,中國南方的炎熱天氣將會持續(xù)。
The weather agency forecast temperatures in South China's Guangdong province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region自治區(qū), and most areas south of the Yangtze River to stay around 35 to 37 degrees Celsius攝氏度 over the coming three days, but the heat waves will be less intense強(qiáng)烈的,緊張的.
It urged people in these regions to cancel outdoor activities in the early afternoon when temperatures are the highest and advised outdoor workers to protect themselves from the hot weather. In other parts of China, however, heavy rains are expected, particularly in the southwestern Sichuan Basin四川盆地, Chongqing Municipality重慶直轄市, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces. Mid-eastern areas in northeast China will also experience heavy rainfalls over the next couple of days.
The NMC also warned that strong winds are likely to sweep(席卷) the East China Sea and Taiwan as Typhoon Muifa, which is expected to be upgraded to a super typhoon, is moving northwestward.
