勤儉是中華民族的傳統(tǒng)美德，歷來為國人所提倡。傳統(tǒng)文化推崇勤儉，那是一種行為，更是一種品德；賢哲偉人推崇它，那是一粥一飯，當思來處不易，半絲半縷，恒念物力維艱；現(xiàn)代文明推崇它，那是對有限資源的珍視，對過度消費的抵制。社會要進步，國家要發(fā)展，這一切都離不開資源的消耗，但這一切，更離不開人們的勤儉。 

Diligence is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation and has always been advocated by the people of the country. Traditional culture respects diligence, it is a kind of behavior, it is a kind of morality; the great man of sage praises it, it is a porridge and a meal, when it is not easy to think, it is half-baked, and the constant thoughts are difficult; modern civilization respects it. 勤儉，中華民族的優(yōu)良傳統(tǒng)，現(xiàn)代文明的內在訴求。勤儉，是一種操守，是一種品行，是一種素養(yǎng)，是一種美德。但隨著人們生活條件的逐步提高，浪費現(xiàn)象也越來越嚴重，一些飯店、家庭、學校等浪費現(xiàn)象隨處可見。而現(xiàn)代化的工業(yè)生產、人們的日常生活每天都要消耗比以往更多的能源，各種資源日益枯竭，節(jié)能減排迫在眉睫。

10月31日世界勤儉日（World Thrift Day）最早是在1924年舉辦的第一屆國際儲蓄銀行大會上由意大利教授Filippo Ravizza提出并最終于2006年由聯(lián)合國確立的。該節(jié)日的確立旨在號召人們勤儉節(jié)約以共同應對日益嚴重的資源危機，進而促進社會的健康可持續(xù)發(fā)展。

On October 31st, World Thrift Day was first proposed by Italian professor Filippo Ravizza at the first International Savings Bank Conference held in 1924 and finally established by the United Nations in 2006. The establishment of the festival aims to call for people to diligently save to cope with the increasingly serious resource crisis, and thus promote the healthy and sustainable development of society.
