一、如何描述大學(xué)生活？
①One image comes to mind when college students describe their days: pinball. ②Students bounce back and forth to class, dining hall, dorm, meetings, library, sports, etc. all day long. ③They may get up early and stay up late to get it all done. ④It takes some getting used to, but busy as they are, most college students come to appreciate the freedom they have to manage their own time.
當(dāng)談到大學(xué)生活的時(shí)候，我們腦海中會(huì)浮現(xiàn)出一幅畫面：彈球。學(xué)生們整天往返于教室、餐廳、宿舍、會(huì)議室、圖書館、體育場(chǎng)等等。為了完成任務(wù)，他們可能會(huì)起早貪黑。這需要一段時(shí)間來適應(yīng)，但盡管他們很忙，他們大都喜歡能自由自在地管理自己的時(shí)間。
這段話描述了大學(xué)生忙碌但自由的情形。我們看一下解析：
①One image comes to mind when college students describe their days: pinball.
首句作者用了一個(gè)詞來比喻大學(xué)生的忙碌生活：pinball. Pinball是十多年前非常火的一款游戲，中文名叫“（桌上）彈球”，和蜘蛛紙牌、掃雷齊名（暴露年齡了）：
在這里，作者借用彈球彈來彈去的特點(diǎn)，比喻大學(xué)生們忙碌奔波的生活，形象而又貼切。
One image comes to mind when是一個(gè)很好的寫作模板，它的意思是“當(dāng)...的時(shí)候，腦海中浮現(xiàn)出一幅畫面”。
我們也可以換種表達(dá)方式：One image/word springs to mind when...
Spring本意指“春天、泉水”，此處作動(dòng)詞，表示“突然出現(xiàn)”，有一種春天的生機(jī)蓬勃和泉水的靈動(dòng)，比come to更有表達(dá)力度。
或者用cross一詞代替：One image/word crosses my mind when...
這三個(gè)句型都可以用在圖表類、漫畫類寫作的開頭，比如：One word / idea comes to / springs to / crosses my mind at the glance of the picture above: ...
當(dāng)我看到上面的圖片時(shí)，腦海中浮現(xiàn)出一個(gè)詞/一個(gè)想法：……
②Students bounce back and forth to class, dining hall, dorm, meetings, library, sports, etc. all day long.
bounce是“彈、跳”的意思，呼應(yīng)上文的pinball.back and forth指“來來回回的”，比如現(xiàn)在很多上班族往返于家和公司兩點(diǎn)一線，我們就可以說：
Workers commute back and forth between their home and their workplace.
所以，文中的意思是：學(xué)生往返于教室、餐廳、宿舍...
④It takes some getting used to, but busy as they are, most college students come to appreciate the freedom (they have) to manage their own time.
It takes some getting used to是個(gè)省略句，補(bǔ)充完整了是：It takes some (time) getting used to (it).
get used to sth指“習(xí)慣某事”，相當(dāng)于be accustomed to（這兩處的to都是介詞）。第二個(gè)it指 大學(xué)生忙碌的生活：bounce back and forth、get up early and stay up late.
busy as they are涉及一個(gè)語法知識(shí)：在as/though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句中，我們一般把形容詞或名詞置于句首。結(jié)構(gòu)為“adj./n.+as/though+主語+be”，舉兩個(gè)例子：
Tired as he is, he offers to help me.盡管他很累，但他還是提出要幫助我。
Student as he is, he does not study hard.
雖然他是個(gè)學(xué)生，卻不努力學(xué)習(xí)。
所以，文中busy as they are可以理解為：as they are busy 盡管他們很忙。
the freedom (they have) to manage their own time中，they have是freedom的定語從句，寫成普通句子的形式是：
They have the freedom to manage their own time.他們能自由地管理自己的時(shí)間。
