1939年11月17日，德國法西斯匪徒，侵入捷克斯洛伐克屠殺了布拉格大學(xué)9名學(xué)生和2名教授，同時其他名校的男女學(xué)生也遭到了機(jī)槍的掃射、毆打和監(jiān)禁。

為了在大學(xué)生中倡導(dǎo)追求和平、民主、自由和進(jìn)步，為了控訴暴徒血腥的罪惡行徑，紀(jì)念反法西斯的大學(xué)生運(yùn)動，1946年，來自世界各國的學(xué)生代表將每年11月17日定為世界學(xué)生日，又稱國際學(xué)生日、世界大學(xué)生節(jié)。
