Who can still remember, 54 years ago, on October 16, 1964, with a loud sound, a huge mushroom cloud soared into the sky, the Chinese people developed their first atomic bomb, the test success!

It was also the birthday of a scientist, qian sanqiang, the father of China's atomic bomb. Qian sanqiang and his wife, he zehui, are both outstanding Chinese physicists, known as "China's culi couple". Their spirit of service should not be forgotten.

Qian sanqiang (16 October 1913 -- 28 June 1992), nuclear physicist. Originally from huzhou, zhejiang province, born in shaoxing, zhejiang province, founder of China atomic energy science enterprise, "two bombs and one star" won xun, member of Chinese academy of sciences.

He graduated from Peking University in 1932. He graduated from tsinghua university in 1936. In 1939, he completed his doctoral dissertation, collisions between particles and protons. At the end of 1946, he was awarded the Henry debar prize for microphysics of the French academy of sciences. In 1948, he was professor of physics department of tsinghua university, vice President of Chinese academy of sciences and President of zhejiang university, vice President and honorary President of China association for science and technology, vice President and President of China physical society. On July 24, 1980, professor qian sanqiang gave a lecture on "a brief history of scientific and technological development" in zhongnanhai.

He died of illness on June 28, 1992, aged 79 in Beijing.
