Melody
Hello! I am Melody. I have studied in Spiiker for one and a half year. During this time, I find that my English has been improved a lot. Before I studied in Spiiker, my English was poor and when I went to attend the IELTS exam for the first time without preparing, I only got 4 in oral test. It’s surprising that when I just took part in Spiiker’s study for one month, I got 5 in the next IELTS oral test. Now, after I have studied in Spiiker for one and a half year, I find that both my oral and written english have been improved greatly. It becomes much easier for me when I listen to the english news and I am fluent to communicate with the foreigners now, which enable me to find a part-time job as teaching foreigners Chinese. I am really thankful to my dear teacher Stephen. Without his help, I can’t get such progress by myself. Also, I want to thanks Spiiker because it makes my life become more interesting and colorful.
Melody是一個(gè)很乖的學(xué)生,她每天都會(huì)按要求做好復(fù)習(xí)和預(yù)習(xí)的準(zhǔn)備,而且課后也經(jīng)常會(huì)通過(guò)看電影和聽(tīng)英語(yǔ)新聞繼續(xù)拓寬自己的知識(shí)面和提高聽(tīng)力。她剛來(lái)這邊學(xué)習(xí)一個(gè)月的時(shí)候,就參加了一次雅思考試,從原來(lái)的4分一下就升上了5分。她自己也為之鼓舞,更加下定決心,要把英語(yǔ)學(xué)好。皇天不負(fù)有心人,在她這一年多的學(xué)習(xí)過(guò)程中,她的聽(tīng)力不但從基本聽(tīng)懂老師的講話(huà)到現(xiàn)在看新聞沒(méi)有問(wèn)題,而且還因?yàn)橛⒄Z(yǔ)變好了,認(rèn)識(shí)了更多的外國(guó)朋友,順帶做了兼職教外國(guó)人中文的工作,她的生活也由此變得更多姿多彩。
Melody現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)愛(ài)上了在這邊的學(xué)習(xí),通過(guò)每天和老師的交流,也跟老師建立起了良好的關(guān)系,把老師當(dāng)朋友一樣經(jīng)常分享工作或者生活方面的看法。我相信,她以后肯定會(huì)越來(lái)越進(jìn)步,她的生活也會(huì)變得更多姿多彩!
The first time I spoke with Melody, she was very nervous. I started making her feel comfortable by opening up funny topics and by cracking jokes. I had hard time understanding her statements at first but I can feel she's got a lot of things to share and ask me. Her pronunciation and vocabulary were the biggest problems she had. She was aware of these. We discussed these challenges and she agreed with me that she had to learn more words and that she had to maximize her talking time to overcome the challenges.
In few days time, she overcame her nervousness and started to ask questions that lead our conversations. She started using different terms and tried her best to enunciate her words for the tutor to understand better. Generally speaking, She was successful in moving her communication skill up to a better level.
She's a very diligent student. She prepares before the class and recalls previous lessons to aid her in discussing the present. She doesn't refuse to talk about any topics. She knows that when she doesn't know anything about the topics, she can review and use her current resources to aid her. She asks realistic questions and interacts with the tutor professionally. The best thing about her as a student is that she knows what she needs and evaluates herself from time to time. She also considers the tutors advice and suggestions seriously.
Like Melody, students who want to learn the English language must have determination. They should not only rely on to the tutors activities and suggestions. They should express what they want, their challenges and what they currently need to the tutors to get appropriate help or assistance.
